Find Any Item in Home Depot Without Help

Imagine asking for help finding a stud finder at Home Depot if you were a girl.
Tip from personal experience: don’t ask a guy associate. Some are better poker players than others (the first guy didn’t know where to find them so I had to ask a second employee). The first had a momentary look cross his face while his mind probably said something along the lines, “Where is a stud you ask? You are looking at one!”
I eventually found an actual stud finder. The kind you put batteries in and drag along a wall to find a 2” x 4” wood stud behind drywall.
With this one tool, I recommend forgoing in-store help.
Here is how to find something in Home Depot without help from an associate:
Start your search by looking online. There is a super handy feature on their website: once you select your store location it will give you the aisle and bay number where the item is located.
Step 1: Go to the main website www.homedepot.com. Click on the “Choose A Store” bold text. A popup window will appear asking for your city/zip code. Then choose your preferred store.
Step 2: Once you select the store go ahead and enter in what it is that they can “help you find today”.
Step 3: Decide which item best fits your needs. Then click on it to get the detailed description. Notice the lovely text that has a real aisle and bay area stating exactly where it is in the store.
You can even have the location texted to you so you don’t have to find a pencil and paper to write it down!!!! I just learned something new! It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Pro Step: You can go one step further if you already know what you want: you can order it online. The associates will pick it for you and have it all ready. So you just have to walk in and pay for it without even going past the service desk.
Sadly, I did not know about this store location feature until after asking for help to find my stud finder.
I do not think I have ever been to Home Depot without an associate asking if I needed help. However, I could see sparce help on a busy Saturday morning when all the weekend warriors (like me and you) are running to the store first thing to get their DIY on! When you are at Home Depot without help it is nice to know there is someplace you can still look.
Or just know the online item location feature is there for you when you anticipate an…awkward situation.
Do you have another item you wish you looked up before going to Home Depot? I want to know before I unknowingly ask. 😉
Whoa! How cool! Thank you. Will use that next time before I head over. Thank you for sharing.
Now to see if a brackish water (and who knows what else), flooded Honda EM 4000 generator is anything but a 200 pound fishing weight. Well, next trip, anyhow.
Thx again for the great HD tip.
Happy to help! It is fun to learns something new myself when I’m writing these posts.
Let’s see if the generator is a match for the Toyota Hilux:
